How to Take Care a Sick Person?

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF A SICK PERSON AT HOME
You do not need a medical background to take care of a sick person at home. You may not be related to the sick person too. It just requires great deal of patience. This will not be easy but not that hard if you add genuine concern towards the person.
Here are some basic ways to take care of a sick person at home:
1. Always keep the sick person’s surrounding clean and neat. Cleaning of it everyday is a must. You need to make sure that nothing could aggravate the person’s situation and illness. The dust is one factor that could cause another irritation or make it worse.
2. Always clean your hands before going inside the room. Hands are one of the dirtiest part of the body. They carry a lot of germs. It is impossible not to use your hands to take care of the sick.
3. Always let the sick person drink water. 6 glasses of water will do but more is much better. You must keep the sick dehydrated. There are lots of benefits that water could give the body especially of the sick.
4. Always give nutritious meals such as fruits and vegetables. If the sick is incapable of chewing then you may make soups. Chicken soup is the best in this case. If the he or she does not have the appetite then you may just feed him or her in smaller portions and make it more often than usual.
5. Always give medications in proper time. You can not afford missing out on this. Make sure that the proper medication will be taken at the right time. You may want to organize the medication a day ahead and set your alarm clocks on time.

6. Always assist the sick to use the toilet and proper hygiene. If this is not possible then provide bed pans just near the bed. You may just use sponge to bathe the person if he cannot leave the bed at the moment. Immediate proper follow up of the things used is a must.
7. Always make the person comfortable with the room and bed. The sheets must be clean all the time. Provide him or her a dark and cozy room to help him or her sleep. Help them reposition themselves at least every after 2hours to help their blood circulation.
These are all important to provide the best for the sick person. As you have noticed the word always is needed because full attention is required. Let them feel loved and understood too. Help them also to recover emotionally by giving them hope. You want this to be done to you if you were sick too, right?
